Referral and Patient Information

  • We offer specialist care for a full range of benign and malignant haematological issues in adults, including but not limited to:

    • Diagnosis and management of blood cancers such as leukaemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.

    • Long term follow up post bone marrow transplant or CAR-T therapy.

    • The investigation and management of abnormal blood counts.

    • Red blood cell disorders such as thalassaemia.

    • Platelet disorders.

    • Management of blood clots and bleeding issues.

    • Pregnancy-related haematological complications.

    • Management of iron and blood transfusions.

    • Management of iron overload for example due to haemochromatosis.

    1. A referral from your GP or specialist needs to be sent to admin@riverinahaematology.com.au (preferred) or faxed to (02) 5955 1217 alongside relevant blood test results.

    2. Dr Alani will triage the referral to ensure urgent cases are seen in a timely fashion.

    3. Our front desk will contact you to arrange an appointment time.

  • You will need to bring:

    • Your medicare card.

    • DVA/pension/private insurance card if applicable.

    • Any recent blood or imaging results since the referral was made or details on where they were done.

    • A list of your current medications.

  • We are a private clinic and fees will vary based on the type of appointment you need. In general, after the Medicare rebate, the out of pocket expense is $198 for a new patient and $129 for a follow up appointment. Discounts may be available for low income card/pension card holders (as issued by Centrelink) and bulk billing may be offered in select cases where frequent visits are necessary.
